BEATLEMANIA !
With The
Beatles
Capitol Records of
CANADA, T-6051 Mono, 12/2/63

When word spread to
North America of The Beatles phenomenal success overseas,
Capitol of
Canada decided to release the Beatles second British LP,
With The
Beatles. The label altered the front cover of the album by adding
favorable
quotes and retitling the record Beatlemania! With The Beatles.
This LP holds the distinction of being
the FIRST Beatles album released
in North America (2 December
1963), preceding
Vee-Jay's "Introducing The Beatles" and Capitol's "Meet The
Beatles"

The back cover of the
Canadian release is essentially
the same as that of the British LP,
with
both featuring the same liner notes by Tony Barrow.
This is the
Original First Issue 1963 Pressing.

Beatlemania ! was
issued as part of the label's "6000 Series",
which concentrated on pop albums, and was assigned number T-6051.
The LP was ONLY ISSUED IN MONO.
Unlike Vee-Jay and
Capitol in the U.S., Capitol of Canada did not delete any songs
from the
British album. Thus, Canadian purchasers were treated to all fourteen songs !
The condition of
this cover is a lovely Near Mint Minus, with a dark, bold cover.
No
ring-wear at all in the center of the black graphic area !! The back
cover has a very small
spot of age, yet clean of wear. The Labels and
Vinyl are in
Stellar Mint UNPLAYED condition ! Superb example !!
Collectors of Capitol releases,
especially that of the
MEET THE BEATLES Lp would complete the series with
this
GREAT and UNIQUE
Capitol of Canada release !!

TWIST AND SHOUT
Capitol Records of
CANADA, T-6054 Mono, 2/3/64
IN THE SHRINKWRAP !

Capitol of Canada's second Beatles album TWIST
AND SHOUT
was also issued as part of the label's "6000 Series",
which concentrated on pop albums, and was assigned number T-6054.
The LP was ONLY ISSUED IN MONO and features
twelve of the fourteen songs
from the first British LP release "Please
Please Me", plus the A sides of the two
previously released singles
"From Me To You" and "She Loves You".
The album's front cover is fantastic
-featuring the same black & white photo that was used
for the group's
"Twist And Shot" EP on Parlophone.

The back cover has extensive liner notes on
the group and its members,
the often-used Dezo Hoffmann portrait that appears
on the picture sleeve
"I Want To Hold Your Hand", a miniature
picture of the first Canadian
release "Beatlemania!" Lp, and the
track listing.
This is the
Original First Issue 1964 Pressing.

ACTUAL PHOTOS OF THIS
ITEM :

The condition on this great album is a
brilliant NEAR MINT cover, which remains in the
ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP. It is so very clean and bright.
Just a corner tear of the shrink on
the back cover in the bottom left corner.
Simply STUNNING overall.
The Record is a vibrant
Mint Minus, and appears UNPLAYED ! Truly a glorious Vinyl,
and the Labels are like NEW ! Clean and shiny.

Capitol Records of
CANADA , T-6063 Mono, 4/27/64

Capitol of Canada's third Beatles album LONG
TALL SALLY
was also issued as part of the label's "6000 Series",
which concentrated on pop albums, and was assigned number T-6063.

twelve tracks.
The record opens with I Want To Hold Your Hand b/w I
Saw Her Standing There,
both making their Canadian album debut. The final
three selections, This Boy,
I'll Get You and You Can't Do That were B-Sides of singles
that had
not previously appeared on a Canadian album.
This is the 1966 Pressing.

The album cover
features the same basic layout as that of the U.S. version
The
Beatles' Second Album. The back cover layout is the same,
except for different text :

The condition on the cover is a
beautiful NEAR MINT, which is completely clean -
no ring-wear, no
dirt, no splits. GORGEOUS ! The Record is a brilliant Near Mint,
and truly a lovely vinyl,

LABEL
MIS-SPELLED "I

WITHOUT running time on Track 2,

(NOT
DOCUMENTED IN BRUCE SPIZER'S "CAPITOL ALBUM" BOOK)

The initial 1st run
labels for this LP (which are the most commonly found) do not
have the running times for "Long Tall Sally" or "I Call
Your Name" on Side 2.
But after Capitol received the tapes for these two tracks,
the company revised the label copy by adding the times for the two songs
!!
When the
BMI credit replaced the ASCAP credit for the song "I Call Your
Name",
Capitol once again revised its label copy - BUT
ONLY ON THE STEREO Labels !!
The printer for the East Coast Stereo label not only changed
ASCAP to
BMI after "I Call Your Name", but also dropped the
running
song for the song. Thus, the Stereo variation has the
running time for "Long Tall Sally" -
but NOT
"I Call Your Name".
BUT
WAIT !! THESE REVISED LABELS HAVE "I CALL YOUR NAME"
MIS-PRINTED AS "I CALL YOU
NAME" ! THIS LABEL WAS JUST
RECENTLY DISCOVERED - AND NOT DOCUMENTED IN
BRUCE SPIZER'S GREAT BOOK "THE CAPITOL ALBUMS".
When the error
was realized, Capitol corrected the song title, and once again
printed another revised label, still without the running time on "I
Call Your Name"
(SEE NEXT ITEM # LP601 BELOW).
The #3 Scranton Cover is
in stupendous LIKE NEW Mint Minus condition,
and still remains in the original SHRINKWRAP. The Record is UNPLAYED
MINT -
a STELLAR example. The previous owner added the
running time of "2:08" for
"I CALL YOU NAME" in black pencil after the BMI credit,
which does not detract and is hardly noticeable :
(ACTUAL SCAN OF

Great added aspect : The "Queens Litho USA" vertical print is visible on
the edge of the mouth opening

tear of the
shrink in the upper right corner. That is the extent of any flaw. Colors

Sgt. Pepper’s
Lonely Hearts Club Band
Capitol MAS-2653 Mono, 6/2/67
Complete with Cut-Out Sheet insert & Red Nuance

WITHOUT "Nems" (1st Cover)
VERY RARE AND RECENTLY CONFIRMED
WEST COAST MONO CORRECTED LABEL
" WITH A LITTLE HELP ...."
Cover Remains in Original Shrinkwrap
!

FINALLY .... HERE IS THE
RARE WEST COAST MONO LABEL.
THIS LABEL VARIANT WAS NOT ORIGINALLY CONFIRMED
IN THE BRUCE SPIZER'S FAMOUS BOOK
“The Beatles Story
On Capitol Records, PART TWO : THE ALBUMS”.
ON PAGE 163, MR. SPIZER WROTE :
"CAPITOL LATER CORRECTED THE
LABEL COPY TO SHOW THE
COMPLETE TITLE OF
"WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS".
AS THIS CHANGE TOOK
PLACE AT A TIME WHEN MONO WAS BEING PHASED OUT,
MOST MONO
DISCS HAVE LABELS WITH THE INCORRECT TITLE.
ONLY EAST COST MONO RECORDS WITH THE
COMPLETE SONG
TITLE, HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED."
|
|
|
NOW, IN MR. SPIZER'S RECENTLY RELEASED
AND WONDERFUL
"THE BEATLES SWAN SONG" BOOK, HE CONFIRMS ON PAGE 264 :
"BECAUSE MONO WAS BEING PHASED OUT IN 1967,
MONO CORRECTED LABELS
ARE MUCH LESS COMMON THAN STEREO REVISED LABELS.
THE CAPITOL ALBUM BOOK DOCUMENTED EAST COAST LABELS WITH THE
FULL TITLE. WE HAVE NOW CONFIRMED THE WEST COAST
MONO VARIATION WITH THE FULL TITLE" .
THE Record AND LABELS ARE A MOST
GORGEOUS NEAR MINT,
WITH ONE SUPERFICIAL LIGHT MARK ON EACH SIDE OF THE VINYL.
THE ACCOMPANYING COVER FEATURES
THE VERY
FIRST ISSUED COVER WITHOUT THE "NEMS" PRINT.
THE COVER IS GRADED AT A NEAR MINT MINUS AND REMAINS
IN THE ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP,
THEREFORE THE GATEFOLD COVER REMAINS CLOSED.

PERFECT GRAPHICS, NO SEAM OR SPINE SPLITS.
JUST VERY MINOR RIGHT CORNER WEAR.

THE ORIGINAL PRICE STICKER IS
THERE TOO,
AND THE SPECIAL ATTRACTION IS THAT THE MONTH THE
LP ARRIVED INTO THE STORE IS PRINTED ON IT :
"JUNE" -
THE MONTH "SGT. PEPPER"
WAS RELEASED IN 1967 !!

THIS PRESSING IS BY FAR THE RAREST
MONO ISSUE
FOR THIS TITLE -
AND THIS IS ONLY THE FIFTH COPY THAT HAS SURFACED !

THAN THE STEREO ISSUES !

phenomenal Near Mint and remains in its
Original factory Shrinkwrap, with a pink oval
"Sam Goody Extra Special" $2.99 price sticker still affixed to upper
right corner of
front Cover shrink. NO creases, NO splits.
No tears to shrink.
Only sign of wear is lower
left corner
peaking through the shrink with a touch of wear on that tip.

beautiful NEAR MINT
MINUS, bordering so close to Near Mint,
with very minimal play time evident.
