ON AUGUST 19, 1964, "THE BEATLES' FIRST AMERICAN TOUR" BEGAN IN
SAN FRANCISCO, WHICH WAS THE FIRST OF 25 DATES THAT WENT THROUGH
SEPTEMBER 20, ENDING AT THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE IN NEW YORK CITY.
THE TITLE OF THIS TOUR WAS SOMETHING OF A MISNOMER SINCE,
ALTHOUGH IT WAS CERTAINLY THE GROUP'S FIRST JAUNT AROUND THE U.S. ,
IT WAS ACTUALLY THEIR SECOND CONCERT-PLAYING VISIT, AND THE TOUR
ALSO VENTURED INTO CANADA FOR THREE CONCERTS.

ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH, THE BEATLES PERFORMED ONE SHOW AT 8:30 PM
AT THE CONVENTION HALL, MISSISSIPPI AVENUE AND THE BOARDWALK IN
ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY - WHERE 18,000 TEENAGERS PACKED THE HALL.
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION HAD TAKEN PLACE HERE
A WEEK EARLIER AND NEWSPAPERS HAPPILY REPORTED THAT THE BEATLES
RECEIVED A MORE BOISTEROUS RECEPTION THAN THE KEYNOTE
SPEECH BY PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON !!

FROM THIS GREAT VENUE, AND DURING THE HEIGHT OF BEATLEMANIA IN AMERICA,
(THEIR FIRST FILM A HARD DAY'S NIGHT  WAS JUST RELEASED A MONTH EARLIER)

SEPTEMBER 17, 1964
MUNICIPAL STADIUM
KANSAS CITY, USA
SET OF 2 FULL, UNUSED
CONCERT TICKETS
with CONSECUTIVE SEAT NUMBERS

S O L D !!

If it wasn't for the persistence of legendary eccentric baseball owner
and promoter Charles O. Finley, The Beatles would have never played Kansas City.
Finley, who owned the Athletics (who moved to Oakland in 1968) had bragged
publicly that he’d get the Beatles to come to Kansas City to play a concert.
This was no easy tASK, FOR THE Beatles 1964 CONCERT ITINERARY HAD BEEN booked.
days off were a rarity AND WERE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Finley arranged a meeting
with Brain Epstein and offered him $100,000 for one show,
which would make it the priciest deal in rock history.

Epstein dutifully relayed the offer to the boys, knowing that they would never
agree to work on a day off. John Lennon being the decision maker of the GROUP,
just yelled “we’ll do whatever you want, BrIAn” - and the deal was made.

Finley had to charge $8.50 per ticket to recoup his extravagant investment,
making it one of the most expensive concerts of its day.  The high price discouraged
the Beatles core audience of teenagers, so it almost didn’t sell out !  Finley finally
lowered the price for the cheap seats to $2.00, but to save money on printing,
these last-minute tickets werE NOT PRINTED with the hilarious picture of Finley
wearing a Beatles wig ON THE BACK.  Over 20,000 FANS attended the show.

The Beatles added the Little Richard medley “Kansas City / Hey, Hey, Hey” to
their 12 song repertoire, to an especially uproarious reception. Once again,
the group had to leave the stage mid-concert, returning only after the audience
had calmed down (a little) in the face of a cancellation threat !

FROM THIS INFAMOUS "ADDED"  SHOW, WE ARE PROUD TO OFFER
A SET OF TWO 1964 KANSAS CITY CONCERT TICKETS AND
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS SET IS THAT THEY ARE FULL, UNUSED,
AND CONSECUTIVELY NUMBERED.

ThESE "LOWER DECK BOX SEAT"  ticketS ARE YELLOW IN COLOR,
WITH GREEN PRINT. THESE WERE THE TEAM COLORS OF FINLEY'S
BASEBALL TEAM, THE OAKLAND A'S.
LOWER DECK BOX SEAT :  SECTION 10, BOX 28C,
$6.50 ADMISSION,
THE SEAT NUMBERS ARE CONSECUTIVE : SEATS 1 & 2.

The FULL ticketS measure 5½" X 2", and ARE in NEAR MINT, unused condition.
THESE ARE NEAR PERFECT, AND THE ONLY MINOR FLAW IS A TINY PAPER CLIP
IMPRESSION OVER THE "y" IN FINLEY ON THE SEAT 1 TICKET.

ON THE BACK OF THE TICKETS IS A PHOTO OF "CRAZY CHARLES FINLEY"
wearing a BEATLE wig & POINTING TO A PHOTO OF RINGO STARR :

SHEA STADIUM, NEW YORK, USA

5 Original FULL Unused  TICKETS
with CONSECUTIVE SEAT NUMBERS

Due to the hype created by John Lennon's remarks that were taken out of context about The Beatles
being more popular than Jesus, this concert failed to sell out, with 11,000 of the 55,600 seats remaining empty.
This only partly explained the lack of excitement in the stadium compared to the heady atmosphere
of the record-breaking 1965 show. Still, the concert grossed $292,000 - of which the Beatles
received 65%, $189,000 - greater than their 1965 take.

Finding separate tickets for the 1966 concert is not as difficult as the infamous 1965 show,
but one never sees 5 unused, full tickets together - in consecutive seating !!

The five FULL UNUSED tickets are the Lime Green “Upper Reserved" $5.00 Seats,
Section 7, Row V, Seats 13 thru 17.
All are in pristine and sharp Near Mint condition.

We have placed the five Tickets into an Ultra-Pro Lucite Screwdown Frame
for the ultimate in presentation and preservation.
The Frame measures 11" X 9" and is constructed of a heavy,
thick UV protective 1" lucite. Also includes a plastic coated wire display stand
to support the framed tickets for your showcase purposes !!
