IN ADDITION TO THE "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" SOUNDTRACK ALBUM. UNITED ARTISTS PREPARED A SERIES OF RECORDS TO PROMOTE THE FILM IN THE UNITED STATES. THESE RECORDS ARE EXTREMELY RARE FOR TWO REASONS. FIRST, THEY WERE PRESSED IN VERY LIMITED NUMBERS AND DISTRIBUTED ONLY TO SELECT RADIO STATIONS AND MOVIE THEATRES. SECOND, BECAUSE THE RECORDS WERE SOLELY INTENDED TO PROMOTE THE MOTION PICTURE, MOST DISC JOCKEYS AND THEATRE MANAGERS DID NOT SAVE THESE UNIQUE RECORDS AFTER THE FILM HAD RUN ITS COURSE.

OPEN-END INTERVIEW RECORDS ENABLED A DISC JOCKEY TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE WAS CONDUCTING AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE BEATLES. THE ILLUSION WAS CREATED BY COMBING A SCRIPT OF STATEMENTS AND QUESTIONS TO ASK THE GROUP WITH A RECORD CONTAINING GAPS OF SILENCE TO INSERT THE DISC JOCKEY'S READING OF THE SCRIPT ALONG WITH THE PRE-RECORDED RESPONSES OF THE BOYS. RECORD COMPANIES PREPARED THESE RECORDS HOPING THAT RADIO PERSONALITIES WOULD BE ANXIOUS TO AIR A "PERSONAL" INTERVIEW WITH THE BEATLES TO IMPRESS LISTENERS. PRIOR TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE UNITED ARTISTS DISCS, CAPITOL RECORDS ISSUED TWO OPEN-END INTERVIEW RECORDS WITH THE BEATLES TO RADIO STATIONS.

UNITED ARTISTS PREPARED THIS DELUXE PACKAGE FOR RADIO STATIONS CONTAINING A SPECIAL BEATLES HALF HOUR OPEN END INTERVIEW (US SP-2359/2360). THE 12" DISC (UASP 2359, SPIZER), HAS RED LABELS WITH BLACK PRINT AND WAS PACKAGED WITH A 12-PAGE SCRIPT (UASP 2359s, SPIZER). SIDE ONE CONTAINS THE OPEN-END INTERVIEW MIXED WITH SONGS AND COMMERCIALS PROMOTING THE MOVIE. SIDE TWO CONTAINS THE OPEN-END INTERVIEW WITHOUT MUSIC. THESE RECORDS WERE ISSUED ONLY IN GENERIC PLAIN COVERS.

FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES MOST PROUDLY OFFERS THE VINTAGE AND ULTRA RARE UNITED ARTISTS BEATLES ' OPEN-END ' INTERVIEW ALBUM, COMPLETE WITH THE ACCOMPANYING AND ORIGINAL 12-PAGE SCRIPT (NOT A COPY). THIS EXAMPLE IS THE BEST THAT HAS SURFACED TO DATE, AND MOST OF THOSE THAT ARE OUT THERE HAVE PHOTOCOPIES OF THE SCRIPT, AND NOT the ORIGINAL ISSUED EXAMPLE.

THE CONDITION OF THE VINYL IS A SPARKLING VG+++ TO NEAR MINT MINUS, WITH LABELS THAT ARE NEAR MINT. THE SCRIPT HAS SOME LIGHT AGING, BUT IT REMAINS solid, sturdy and iN BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION. AS STATED, THESE RECORDS ARE EXTREMELY RARE INDEED, AND WHEN THEY DO SURFACE DO NOT COME CLOSE TO THE CONDITION THAT IS BEING OFFERED HERE.

ACCOMPANIED BY LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PERRY COX, BEATLES U.S. RECORDS EXPERT, AUTHOR OF "THE BEATLES RECORD PRICE GUIDE" SERIES OF BOOKS.
