  DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL SCANS)

ON AUGUST 19, 1964, "THE BEATLES' FIRST AMERICAN TOUR" BEGAN IN SAN FRANCISCO, WHICH WAS THE FIRST OF 25 DATES THAT WENT THROUGH SEPTEMBER 20, ENDING AT THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE IN NEW YORK CITY. THE TITLE OF THIS TOUR WAS SOMETHING OF A MISNOMER SINCE, ALTHOUGH IT WAS CERTAINLY THE GROUP'S FIRST JAUNT AROUND THE U.S. , IT WAS ACTUALLY THEIR SECOND CONCERT-PLAYING VISIT, AND THE TOUR ALSO VENTURED INTO CANADA FOR THREE CONCERTS.

ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH, THE BEATLES PERFORMED ONE SHOW AT 8:30 PM AT THE CONVENTION HALL, MISSISSIPPI AVENUE AND THE BOARDWALK IN ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY - WHERE 18,000 TEENAGERS PACKED THE HALL. IT WAS THE ONLY TIME THEY EVER PERFORMED IN NEW JERSEY. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NATIONAL CONVENTION HAD TAKEN PLACE HERE A WEEK EARLIER AND NEWSPAPERS HAPPILY REPORTED THAT THE BEATLES RECEIVED A MORE BOISTEROUS RECEPTION THAN THE KEYNOTE SPEECH BY PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON.

THE CONCERT WAS ORGANIZED BY THE BOARDWALK'S NEARBY ENTERTAINMENT VENUE "STEEL PIER" (SEE PHOTO BELOW). NOTICE THAT PAUL ANKA WAS CURRENTLY PERFORMING THERE AND THE MOVIE "BYE BYE BIRDIE" IS PLAYING AT THE STRAND THEATRE ON THE LEFT. THE PHOTOS OF THE BEATLES PERFORMING HERE ARE THE ONLY ONES WE COULD FIND, WHICH ARE PERSONAL SHOTS TAKEN BY A FAN DURING THE BAND'S PERFORMANCE HERE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, 1964.

DURING THE HEIGHT OF BEATLEMANIA IN AMERICA, WHEN THEIR FIRST FILM "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" WAS JUST RELEASED A MONTH EARLIER, WE OFFER THIS STUNNING 5½" X 2" FULL, UNUSED CONCERT TICKET. THIS "MAIN FLOOR" SEAT TICKET IS THE "WHITE" COLOR, WITH DARK BLUE PRINT AND REMAINS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION. IT IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, CLEAN AND BRIGHT AND FIRM. THE BACK OF THE TICKET IS CLEAN AS WELL, WITH SOME LIGHT PROPER AGE MELLOWING AT THE EDGES ONLY.  THIS PARTICULAR TICKET SECTION, ROW AND SEAT NUMBER IS "RSS707", WITH A $3.90 ADMISSION PRICE. MADE OF THICK, CARDBOARD CONSTRUCTION (FIRMER THAN THE USUAL STANDARD THINNER TICKET), THE UN-TORN PERFORATION LINE REMAINS INTACT AND SOLID.

THIS VENUE IS ONE OF THE RARER TICKETS TO ACQUIRE IN IT'S FULL OR STUB STATE DUE TO IT BEING THE BEATLES' ONLY PERFORMANCE IN NEW JERSEY - AND THIS "WHITE" COLORED MAIN FLOOR UNUSED, FULL TICKET IS A BEAUTY TO BEHOLD. THE TICKET IS  PRESENTED SECURELY IN A
3½" X 8" ULTRA-PRO CRYSTAL CLEAR LUCITE SCREW-DOWN PROTECTIVE HOLDER FOR THE BEST IN PRESERVATION.

ACCOMPANIED BY A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PERRY COX, BEATLES U.S. RECORDS EXPERT AND AUTHOR OF "THE BEATLES RECORD PRICE GUIDE" SERIES OF BOOKS.

AFTER THE SHOW THE BEATLES LEFT THE VENUE IN A LAUNDRY TRUCK, AS THEIR LIMOUSINE WAS TOO CONSPICUOUS. THAT NIGHT THEY STAYED AT THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE HOTEL IN NEARBY CAPE MAY, WHERE THEY STAYED FOR A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THEIR SEPTEMBER 2ND CONCERT IN PHILADELPHIA. DURING THEIR STAY IN ATLANTIC CITY, JOHN AND PAUL WROTE THE SONG "EVERY LITTLE THING", WHICH APPEARED ON THE "BEATLES FOR SALE" LP ALBUM IN DECEMBER OF 1964. PAUL STATES "JOHN AND I GOT THIS ONE WRITTEN IN ATLANTIC CITY DURING OUR LAST TOUR OF THE STATES. JOHN DOES THE GUITAR RIFF FOR THIS ONE, AND GEORGE IS ON ACOUSTIC. RINGO BASHES SOME TIMPANI DRUMS FOR THE BIG NOISES YOU HEAR."
