In June 1961, a British singer named Tony Sheridan recorded
"My Bonnie", "The Saints" and a few others for Polydor Records in Germany .
Tony had been on the scene, playing in clubs in Hamburg with a new British group,
The Beatles, as his back up group.  In October of 1961,  a 45 of
"My Bonnie" b/w "The Saints" was released in Germany on Polydor
under the name "Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers."
The record sold moderately well in Germany and on October 28th Ray Jones
walked into Brian Epstein’s NEMS record shop in London asking for a copy
of the record. Epstein then found out who the group was and ordered
the single and sold more than 100 copies of it. As history would have it,
by the end of the year Brian Epstein was managing the group…
and the rest is history.

On January 5th 1962 , "My Bonnie" was released on Polydor Records
in England but this time with the name correctly listed as
"Tony Sheridan & The Beatles".  A few months later, the record attracted
the interest of Decca Records in the UNITED STATES.
Decca would have the first option of releasing any German Polydor Records
in their "Deutsche Grammophon" series, of which this was one.
Consequently, in April of 1962, pink label promotional copies of the Decca 45
were pressed and distributed to radio stations and reviewers.
Although it was not well received, a small number of
commercial (store) copies were pressed up and released on April 23, 1962
as "Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers".

DUE TO NEAR NON-EXISTENT AIRPLAY AND SALES, DECCA MANUFACTURED
A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF STOCK COPIES AND IS NOW IT ONE OF THE SCARCEST
AMERICAN "BEATLES" RECORDS. it was assumed that most copies
were returned and destroyed. Today, it is estimated that APPROXIMATELY
20 copies of the commercial issue of "My Bonnie" on Decca still exist.

THE SINGLES WERE PRESSED BY DECCA'S FACTORIES IN
GLOVERSVILLE, NEW YORK (IDENTIFIED BY A "1" IN THE TRAIL OFF AREA)
AND PICKNEYVILLE, ILLINOIS (IDENTIFIED BY A "2" IN THE TRAIL OFF AREA).

THE GLOVERSVILLE LABELS (DEC 31382.01A, SPIZER)
HAVE THE RECORD NUMBER, FILE NUMBER AND RUNNING TIME
OVERPRINTED IN SILVER IN THE LOWER BLACK SECTION.
WE HAVE INCLUDED AN IMAGE OF THIS LABEL PRESSING HERE
AND SHOWN IN THE POOR CONDITION THAT THESE RECORDS ARE USUALLY FOUND :

THE RARER PICKNEYVILLE LABELS (DEC 31382.01B, SPIZER)
HAVE THE RECORD NUMBER, FILE NUMBER AND RUNNING TIME
OVERPRINTED IN SILVER IN THE COLOR BAR.

thE MAGNIFICENT EXAMPLE BEING OFFERED HERE IS THIS
MUCH RARER PICKNEYVILLE PRESSING AND LABELS.

It is estimated that no more than
6 or 7 copies of this variant exist today !

WHEN FOUND, IT WAS STILL INSERTED IN IT'S OWN DECCA GENERIC SLEEVE,
WHICH IS ALSO ACCOMPANIES THE 45 SINGLE :

FILED AWAY IN A CARDBOARD BOX BETWEEN OTHER "OLD" RECORDS
IN A RECYCLING "DUMPYARD" IN ROCKPORT, MASSACHUSETTS -
AND PLUCKED OUT MOMENTS BEFORE IT'S INEVITABLE DESTRUCTION -
The condition OF THIS MEGA-RARE PIECE is a MOST
REMARKABLE AND ASTOUNDING UNPLAYED NEAR MINT -
AND IN ALL PROBABILITY, MUST BE CONSIDERED THE VERY BEST
EXAMPLE TO HAVE SURFACED TO DATE !
IT IS TRULY OBVIOUS THIS RECORD HAS NEVER SEEN A TURNTABLE :

To further substantiate authenticity of this piece,
the run-out machine stamped etchings
are visibly clear ON THE "A" & "B" SIDES.
ALSO, TAKE NOTICE OF THE PICKNEYVILLE "2"
ABOVE THE LABELS IN THE TRAIL OFF AREA :

THE ONLY BLEMISHES EVIDENT ARE SOFT "WHISPS"  (2 ON EACH SIDE)
WHICH OBVIOUSLY EMANATE FROM YEARS OF MOVEMENT AND DUST
WITHIN THE DECCA INNER SLEEVE. these minor lines DO NOT CONSTITUTE A
DEGRADATION OF OUR NEAR MINT UNPLAYED GRADING.

THERE IS NO DULLING WHATSOEVER TO The vinyl AND THERE REMAINS
A SPARKLING AND GLOSSY SHEEN TO THE GROOVES ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
THE RUN-OUT AREAS ON BOTH SIDES ARE FLAWLESS & STELLAR - "BLACK ICE" !!

THE LABELS ARE EQUALLY GORGEOUS WITH DEEP RICH COLORS THROUGHOUT.
THERE ARE A FEW "WHISPS" AGAIN, ON THE A-SIDE LABEL ABOVE THE TITLE,
YET HARDLY NOTICEABLE, BUT MENTIONED HERE FOR ACCURACY.
the b-side label is JUST ABOUT flawless.

This record is a serious and substantial CORNERSTONE
addition to A Beatles Collection.
AN historic anD incredible Beatles Record rarity !!!

ACCOMPANIED BY LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.

HERE WAS OUR VERY FIRST ACQUISITION

The condition OF THIS MEGA-RARE PIECE is aN ASTOUNDING NEAR MINT
with JUST TWO MINOR AND SUPERFICIAL BLEMISHES THAT
APPEAR TO BE SIMPLY SLEEVE PULLS - ONE ON EACH SIDE.

THESE BLEMISHES DO NOT CONSTITUTE A DEGRADATION OF OUR NEAR MINT GRADING !
THERE IS NO DULLING WHATSOEVER TO The vinyl AND THERE REMAINS
A BRILLIANT AND SHINY SHEEN TO THE GROOVES ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
THE RUN-OUT AREAS ON BOTH SIDES ARE FLAWLESS & STELLAR !!
IT IS SIMPLY OBVIOUS THIS RECORD WAS VERY WELL-CARED FOR OVER THE YEARS.

THE LABELS ARE EQUALLY GORGEOUS WITH DEEP RICH COLORS THROUGHOUT.
THE "A" SIDE LABEL GRADES NEAR MINT AND APPEARS A BIT BOLDER IN ITS COLOR CONTRASTS
(APPEARS LIKE PRINTER'S DETAIL FACTOR) , AS COMPARED TO THE "b" SIDE, WHICH IS GRADED
AT NEAR MINT MINUS, DUE TO A TOUCH MORE WEAR ON THE EDGE OF THE LABEL RIM
AS EVIDENT IN THE SCAN ABOVE.
THIS MOST LIKELY WAS CAUSED TO THE MANNER OF STORAGE OVER THE YEARS.
THIS FACTOR IS VERY MINOR, BUT DESCRIBED FOR ACCURACY.

ACCOMPANIED BY LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
