THE BEATLES’ SECOND ALBUM
Parlophone
CPCS 103, STEREO
Released July 1965
VERY RARE
U.K. PRESSED EXPORT ISSUE
Item # PAR192 Price $2,650
3/24/11
three
capitol-configured albums were pressed in
england by emi as export discs. "something new",
"the beatles' second album" and "beatles vi"
have parlophone labels yet were not sold in the
united kingdom, but rather were shipped to
emi affiliates in other countries. the three albums
were issued only in stereo. their jackets have the
same construction as other emi british albums
with laminated front covers containing
flaps that fold over onto the back cover.
presented here is
the second of the three albums,
"the beatles'
second album". issued around july 1965,
it has the same front cover as the capitol album,
except that the parlophone / emi logo
replaces the capitol logo.
(actual images)

the back liner
text and pictures from the
capitol album are reduced, intact except for the
removal of the image of the "meet the beatles!" cover,
to make room for the standard emi information.

this example
offered here is just beautiful.
the cover grades a gorgeous near mint minus
with just the minimal amount of handling wear,
displaying bright and clean all around.
no ringwear, no splits. no yellowing.

the spine and it's print is solid and crisp as can be.

the accompanying
record shows minimal play time
and grades a sparkling near mint. absolutely gorgeous,
and the labels are equally brilliant.
this is indeed the summer 1965 parlophone label variation,
showing the yellow "£"
logo and
the parlophone name on top,
with "the gramophone co. ltd." outer rim perimeter print.
this particular label variation is the rarer version with
the track "thank you girl" composer
misspelled as "mccarthy"
instead of mccartney.
the original emi
blank white with "patent no" and
"made in england" inner sleeve is included.

pressed in
significantly fewer numbers
relative to domestic releases,
no beatles lp album collection
can be complete without at least
one example of a yellow & black
parlophone label export pressing -
and this example is a beauty !
