AT THE TIME CAPITOL RELEASED ITS FOLLOW-UP ALBUM TO "MEET THE BEATLES!" ON APRIL 10, 1964, THE TOP TWO ALBUMS ON THE CHARTS WERE "MEET THE BEATLES!" AND VEE-JAY'S "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES". IN AN ATTEMPT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM AND TO TRIVIALIZE THE VEE-JAY DISC, CAPITOL BOLDLY NAMED THE RECORD "THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM". WHILE THE LP WAS CAPITOL'S SECOND BEATLES ALBUM, IT WAS REALLY THE THIRD ALBUM CONSISTING ENTIRELY OF BEATLES SONGS TO BE RELEASED IN THE UNITED STATES. ALTHOUGH "THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM" IS A PIECE-PARTS COLLECTION, IT IS A GREAT ROCK 'N' ROLL ALBUM. AFTER ALL, IT HAS "ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN", "MONEY", "LONG TALL SALLY" AND "PLEASE MISTER POSTMAN"" ALONG WITH "SHE LOVES YOU". AND WITH SONGS LIKE THAT, YOU KNOW THAT CAN'T BE BAD. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH.

ISSUED DURING THE HEIGHT OF BEATLEMANIA IN THE SUMMER OF 1964, "THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM", IS ONE OF THE RAREST TITLES TO FIND STILL SEALED, PARTICULARLY THE STEREO ISSUE, FOR STEREO COPIES OF BEATLES ALBUMS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO 1967 ARE SIGNIFICANTLY RARER THAN THEIR MONO COUNTERPARTS. IT'S ESTIMATED THAT ONLY TEN PERCENT OF CAPITOL'S BEATLES ALBUMS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO 1967 WERE STEREO.

THIS FACTORY SEALED EXAMPLE OF CAPITOL'S SECOND BEATLES ALBUM IS A WORLD-CLASS EXAMPLE, AND TRULY SPECTACULAR FROM CORNER TO CORNER. THE GRAPHICS AND COLORS ARE VIBRANT AND THE TONE OF THE COVER REMAINS BOLD AND BRIGHT. NO SPLITS, NO TEARS, NO RING WEAR. THE SPINE IS SOLID, FIRM AND THE PRINT LEGIBLE THROUGHOUT. ALL FOUR CORNERS ARE SHARP. THE BACK COVER IS CLEAN AND A VIBRANT WHITE.

THIS IS THE RARER STEREO WEST COAST, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA PRESSING, INDICATED BY THE #6 FACTORY NUMBER ON THE BACK COVER IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER.  THE VERY IMPORTANT "STEREO NEEDLE DAMAGE" INFO DISCLAIMER PRINT IS ALSO EVIDENT ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE BACK COVER. THERE ARE 2 FACTORY SHRINK "BREATH HOLES" EVIDENT ON THE FRONT. THE EARLY 1964 CAPITOL RECORDS BLUE INNER DUST SLEEVE IS CLEARLY VISIBLE THROUGH THE MOUTH OPENING, WHICH ALSO INDICATES THIS IS A FIRST PRESSING.
