  DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL IMAGES)

THE ORIGINAL COVER TO "YESTERDAY AND TODAY" CAUSED QUITE A STIR WHEN IT MADE ITS LIMITED APPEARANCE IN JUNE 1966. IT MARKED THE FIRST TIME THAT THE BEATLES JUDGMENT WAS SEVERELY AND UNIVERSALLY CRITICIZED. THE CONTROVERSIAL COVER DEPICTED THE BEATLES IN WHITE BUTCHER SMOCKS SURROUNDED BY SLABS OF MEAT AND DECAPITATED BABY DOLLS.  CAPITOL RECORDS PROCEEDED WITH THE PRESSING, PACKAGING AND SHIPPING OF 750,000 COPIES TO ITS DISTRIBUTORS. THE RESPONSE WAS IMMEDIATE AND UNIFORMLY NEGATIVE, AND FORCED CAPITOL'S PRESIDENT ALAN LIVINGSTON, TO PULL THE PLUG ON THE BUTCHER.

A MASSIVE RECALL WAS QUICKLY FORMULATED AND SET INTO MOTION SO THAT ALL COPIES OF THE ALBUM WERE TO BE RETURNED AND A REPLACEMENT FRONT SLICK, KNOWN AS THE "TRUNK COVER" WAS TO BE PASTED OVER THE "OFFENSIVE" BUTCHER COVER, ALTHOUGH THOUSANDS OF THE BUTCHER COVERS WERE ALREADY DESTROYED BY CAPITOL'S JACKSONVILLE, ILLINOIS PLANT.

PRESENTED HERE IS A GORGEOUS ORIGINAL 1966 MONO " PASTE OVER SECOND STATE" BUTCHER COVER ISSUE OF THE BEATLES CLASSIC "YESTERDAY & TODAY" LP IN FANTASTIC CONDITION. THE Cover is a STUNNING NEAR MINT MINUS TO NEAR MINT CONDITION OVERALL. IT'S A BEAUTIFUL LOS ANGELES PRODUCED EXAMPLE OF THE COVER WITH THE SMALL NUMBER "6" EVIDENT AT THE LOWER BACK RIGHT CORNER. THERE IS NO writing, NO creases. No seam splits. THE Spine is all there AND THE Paper goes all the way to the tips. No attempts WERE MADE at peeling.

ONE CAN PLAINLY SEE RINGO'S "V" IMPRESSION OF HIS BLACK SWEATER ON THE ORIGINAL "BUTCHER" COVER BENEATH THE APPLIED 'TRUNK' SLICK. RINGO'S HEAD AND FACE IS ALSO FAINTLY VISIBLE ON THE "BUTCHER" SLICK. ALSO, THE LOWER LEFT OF THE FRONT COVER REVEALS A THIN PORTION OF THE ACTUAL BUTCHER COVER SLICK BENEATH THE APPLIED TRUNK SLICK. THIS COVER IS A CLEAN AND BRIGHT "WHITE" AND THE GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING. THE BACK OF THE COVER and EDGES DOES HAVE SOME VERY VERY LIGHT AND MINIMAL TYPICAL AGING BUT NO RINGWEAR AT ALL.

THE ACCOMPANYING AND MATCHING WEST COAST RECORD IS REMARKABLE TO SAY THE LEAST, AND IS A SHIMMERING NEAR  MINT WITH NEAR MINT LABELS.  THE "CAPITOL '66" ORANGE INNER DUST SLEEVE IS INCLUDED AS WELL, AND IS NEAR MINT MINUS, WITH Only a 2.5" seam split at bottom center of the inner sleeve.

AS AN ADDED ATTRACTION AND ALSO INCLUDED, IS A QUALITY COPY OF THE CAPITOL RECORDS ORIGINAL "RECALL LETTER" CONCERNING THE CONTROVERSIAL LP COVER THAT WENT OUT TO ALL DISTRIBUTORS AND PROMOTERS ON JUNE 14, 1966.
